Providing oversight to a successful Housing Counseling Program requires knowledge of HUD’s regulations, guidelines, and procedures. There are many aspects to the housing counseling program and they require careful consideration. Even the most skillful program managers find daily operation to be daunting when a solid foundation has not been established. This training will start with helping managers to consider the characteristics required to lay a sturdy foundation and continually build on those components throughout the training. Participants will gain tips and strategies which will enhance the effectiveness of their program and help their programs operate in a manner consistent with HUD’s expectations.
 
The training will cover:
 
·       Maintaining an audit ready Housing Counseling program
·       Recruiting qualified Housing Counselors
·       Developing standards to measure effective performance
·       Reporting on programs and services
·       Planning for succession
·       Building strong partnerships and collaborations
·       Creating a resource inventory
